  • Position Description:

    As a Microsoft SQL Server Database Engineer, you will be responsible for a range of exciting tasks:

    • Perform database administration activities, including the installation and maintenance of database management software, and the design and implementation of predictive analysis.

    • Configure, provision, operate, and administer database management systems and related software, as well as backend storage server and hardware platforms.

    • Design, install, monitor, maintain, and fine-tune production databases while ensuring high data availability.

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of database policies and procedures to maintain data integrity and availability, including software updates.

    • Collaborate closely with the development, business, and operations teams to ensure the security and confidentiality of data.

    • Take ownership of the availability, reliability, and integrity of business data stored in production databases.

    Qualifications

    Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD

     

    Required Qualifications: 

    • TS/SCI clearance adjudication or ability to obtain SCI and pass a poly
    • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field of study and 8 or more years of relevant experience. Additional 4 years experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
    • A minimum 8 years of experience with SQLserver database administration
    • Active Security+ (DoD 8570 Baseline certification for IAT Lvl 2)
    • Experience in database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high availability strategies for SQL Server 2017 or higher
    • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database performance issues
    • Experience with implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
    • Experience with SQL Server backup and recovery strategies
    • Experience with Microsoft Windows Operating System
    • Experience in upgrading major database instances
    • Independently able to employ multiple database backup strategies
    • Ability to work closely with system admins and ISSO on applicaiton upgrades, documentation and STIG remediation

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Ability to design, develop, and document technical solutions, standard operating procedures, and change requests.
    • Experience with capacity planning, utilization, and performance monitoring (Index, Table, Queries, and Stored procedures).
    • Familiar with writing SQL queries to generate system data reports, modify data as necessary, etc.
