The Role

Experian’s Compliance team is looking for a Director of Compliance Operations to drive key components of the Compliance Management Program for our North America businesses.  The ideal candidate is a seasoned compliance professional with deep experience building and managing compliance operations programs that cover policy frameworks, assurance testing and reporting. The Director of Compliance Operation will be responsible for the enterprise-wide aspects of Experian’s Compliance Management Program at the regional level and across multiple business lines.  

Job Description

  • Drive key Compliance Management Program components and manage Compliance Operations teams that support compliance testing, regulator interactions, training, policies, reporting and annual planning.
  • Ensure compliance testing program is designed and managed to effectively test and report on compliance with key laws and regulations.  Effectively coordinate testing plans and result reporting with other second line testing teams.
  • Be responsible for regulatory change management framework and process are operating effectively across multiple business lines.
  • Oversee interactions with federal and state regulators including regulatory exams, quarterly monitoring and necessary corrective action identified through regulator interactions.
  • Ensure compliance policies and training modules are kept up-to-date, cover key laws and regulations, and provide them to relevant employees and management.  Facilitate requests for training updates with risk management organization.
  • Ensure compliance data in Experian’s Governance, Risk and Compliance system meets data governance standards and is kept up-to-date.  Facilitate requests for changes to the system to meet Compliance team’s needs.
  • Oversee periodic compliance reporting to business units and senior management including compliance testing reporting and key compliance data for risk management committees.
  • Manage the annual planning process including annual risk assessment, annual compliance testing plan and overall North America Compliance Management Program annual objectives.
  • Maintain proficient and contemporary knowledge of key consumer protection, privacy and banking laws and regulations, and the latest interpretations.
  • Drive and/or support Compliance team projects, initiatives and process improvements as needed. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Director or Vice President role in consumer compliance preferably in banking and/or at a medium to large financial institution.
  • Experience managing multiple teams with proven ability to drive high performance results across those teams using OKRs or similar performance management metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to improve compliance management programs, including compliance testing, training, and reporting.
  • Experience working with federal and state regulators.  Preferably experience collaborating with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS).
  • Strong communication and influence skills with multiple levels of business unit/senior management, second line teams, internal audit and external auditors/regulators.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. consumer protection, privacy, and banking laws and regulations including FCRA, GLBA, UDAAP, TISA and BSA/AML.  Compliance certification (i.e., CRCM, CIPP, CAMS) a plus.
  • Experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance systems and/or RSA Archer platform a plus.
