Cleveland Clinic Indian River, Department of Pain Management, has a full-time opening for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Pain Management team. This opportunity is well suited for an APP who is looking to collaborate, learn, and grow in a supportive academic environment while providing high-quality care to patients with acute and chronic pain conditions.

We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and motivated provider to work within a comprehensive pain management program. The role is outpatient only. 

The APP will work closely with pain management physicians and the multidisciplinary care team to evaluate, treat, and manage patients with a variety of pain related conditions. Responsibilities include obtaining histories and physical exams, developing treatment plans, ordering and reviewing imaging and lab studies, coordinating care with referring providers, and educating patients on treatment options and expectations.

Additional responsibilities may include follow up visits, review of diagnostic results, assessment of patient response to treatment, care coordination, and support with appropriate medication management when clinically indicated and within the scope of the care plan.

This position offers mentorship and clinical support, making it a strong opportunity for a motivated new graduate interested in developing experience in pain management. Prior pain management, spine, neurology, orthopedic, physical medicine and rehabilitation, or related clinical experience is preferred, but not required.

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. There are no weekend or call requirements.

Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider who provides primary and/or specialty care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with the health care team in accordance with certification and licensure. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Responsible for dissemination of knowledge through instructing, leading and developing educational programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.  Works in collaboration with the health care team.

  • Performs and interprets common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.

  • Performs routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.

  • May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by license through applicable state board and Cleveland Clinic policies.

  • Educates patients and answers questions regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards.

  • Participates in medical team rounds; collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care.
