Job Description
Opportunity at a Glance
We are interested in developing long-term relationships with superior instructors who have high professional standards, excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and a commitment to providing the finest practitioner-focused education. We are seeking primarily Industry Professionals to share their knowledge and experience with undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of fields. Commitment is on a course-by-course basis.
NR-436: Community, Public, and Population Health Nursing
Theory and concepts of community/public/global health utilizing levels of prevention are presented. The role of the Community Health Nurse (CHN) in determining predictive factors including the social determinants of health (SDoH) that influence health will be explored. This course will investigate the needs of aggregates in the community setting, including promoting health and preventing illness; planning for disasters; addressing environmental health problems; and managing information and communication technology. Planning, organization, and delivery of services for populations at risk are tied to Healthy People goals with an introduction to political and sociocultural aspects of community, demographic, and epidemiological methods. Communication, collaboration, and teamwork strategies will be explored along with application of evidence-based practice. This course includes mentored clinical experiences in community settings for students to assist in applying community-health principles and implementing relevant concepts in non-acute care settings.
Responsibilities
- Provides students with an approved Adtalem Global Education syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives.
- Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and update all course materials.
- Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
- Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
Qualifications
- A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university
- An unencumbered professional nursing license (Compact License preferred)
- At least two years professional experience within last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse
- Teaching or precepting experience (2 years required - online preferred)
- Two years of Community, Public or Population Health nursing experience (required)
- Have genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning
- Have exceptional subject matter expertise with excellent written and verbal communication skills
