Role Definition

  • Provides expertise, guidance, and performs underwriting while adhering to organizational guidelines, policies and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Follows up-to-date regulatory requirements, industry best practices, trends and business requirements.
  • Providing solutions and support for large and complex underwriting risk evaluation processes in a given line of business.
  • Mentoring and guiding less experienced underwriters in handling underwriting issues; developing and delivering corresponding training according to departmental needs.
  • Advising on the monitoring of loss experience and business conditions of key accounts as well as loss trends and any relevant legal or economic factors affecting a given line of business.

Skill Required:

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Creativity: Knowledge of the approaches, tools, and techniques for promoting creative, original thinking and ability to apply it to a variety of business situations.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Credit Analysis and Verification: Knowledge of credit analysis and verification; ability to utilize tools and techniques to determine the credit- worthiness of an applicant.
  • Financial Statement Analysis: Knowledge of financial statement and balance sheet; ability to analyze financial statement data and determine the credit-worthiness of a business enterprise.
  • Quantitative Techniques: Knowledge of quantitative techniques; ability to use quantitative tools and techniques to measure and analyze risks.
  • Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.

Additional information:

  • This position requires the successful candidate to work full time, 5 days per week in the Nashville main office.
