The Lead Admissions RN Coordinator has the primary responsibility of assigning bed placement for patients requiring admission to acute care and critical care units. This will include admissions from emergency departments, direct admits and inter-unit transfers. Surgical patients (in the case of add on procedures and/or changes to admission) as well as pediatrics, patients to CDU and admissions from outside facilities, will filter through this process. Chart review and/or calls to clarify bed criteria will be performed to assure appropriate bed placement. The Lead Admissions RN collaborates with nursing, physicians, EVS, the nursing resource office and other facilities to define, reduce and eliminate barriers within the system which may impede patient flow.

Please note the following important details regarding this role:

  • This posting is for multiple openings of a Lead Admissions RN
  • This role is an in-hospital position and will report into the hospital daily as scheduled
  • Work Schedule:
    • 7pm – 7am
  • Work Status:
    • Flexibility to work a three-day work week, within the Sunday - Saturday work week, as scheduled
    • Flexibility to work holidays and weekends as scheduled

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Note: Applicants without a BSN degree must actively pursue and attain a BSN within two years of hire. Continued employment beyond two years is contingent upon attaining the BSN degree
  • Texas Registered Nurse License -OR- National Registered Nurse Compact License
  • 5 or more years of RN Experience
    • Experience may include:
      • Adult or Pedi Emergency Department
      • ICU
      • Acute Care Inpatient Nursing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of leadership experience
