The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) organization has an exciting opportunity for a Flight Test Operations Manager to support the T-7A development flight test program at Edwards Air Force Base, CA.

This exciting position offers an opportunity to work directly with the USAF in the continued testing phases of this new trainer with advanced fighter-like performance commensurate with today’s 4th and 5th-generation fighter aircraft.

The successful candidate must be able to develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. The new BT&E Flight Test Ops Manager will be managing day to day operations for multiple Engineering Manufacturing and Development (EMD) test aircraft across multiple sites (Edwards AFB, St. Louis, MO, Eglin AFB, Pax River NAS). You will utilize your flight test knowledge and Boeing processes to manage the planning, execution, and reporting of ground and flight test programs.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage, develop, and motivate a multi-discipline union-represented team consisting of Test Conductors, Flight Test Engineers, Test Requirements & Analysis Engineers, Instrumentation Operations Engineers, and Instrumentation Technicians
  • Ensure safe and efficient day to day execution of the program flight test schedule and assist with program replan activities as required. Report progress and status to plan.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support the successful execution of the flight test program including T-7A SPO, 416th FLTS, Ridley MCR, Flight Ops, Engineering IPT, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Contracts, and the Program Office
  • Ensure resources are available to support the needs of the flight test program including staffing, flight test spares, support equipment, and special test equipment
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Create a culture that enhances Safety, Quality, Productivity in a teaming environment

 Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of experience in the aerospace industry
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in ground and/or flight test environments
  • 1+ years of experience leading and/or managing a team

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working USAF/Government and/or other DoD contracts
  • Experience working in a developmental flight test program with a USAF test organization as the lead development test organization (LDTO)
  • Experience with general test processes including aircraft configuration control, test planning, test execution, test reporting, and general aircraft/system troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with USAF maintenance processes including AFI 21-101 and DCMAI 8210
  • Mission control room qualification within any discipline on any prior flight test program
  • Experience leading multidiscipline team including test ops, flight ops, manufacturing, maintenance support, engineering, safety, and quality

Summary pay range: $138,550 – $187,450
