About the role

The VP - Commercial & Procurement Contracts reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer and is responsible for designing, implementing, leading, overseeing, and managing all aspects of the global customer and procurement contracting function. This individual will lead a team of contract specialists as they review, negotiate, and draft commercial and procurement contracts for the Company to ensure adherence to Company policy. The leader is also responsible for establishing and training on policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the commercial and procurement contract specialist team members in reviewing, drafting and negotiating the Company’s customer and vendor/supplier agreements.
  • Craft, evaluate, negotiate and execute a wide variety of contracts covering a range of transactions.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement of the Contracts & Procurement function, including operational efficiencies, incorporation of new technology, professional growth and development, and implementing emerging best practices.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and internal business partners to identify, maintain, analyze, and improve key metrics impacting the Contracts & Procurement team’s performance.
  • Demonstrate strong business judgment essential to shaping contracts for new business deals and ensuring contract results.
  • Oversee and/or conduct activities to assure the development, evolution, and implementation of department technology, process and procedures.
  • Create and maintain relationships with suppliers and serve as the singular point of contact for matters concerning procurement contracts.
  • Communicate and present information to stakeholders about all contract-related matters.
  • Assist in solving contract-related issues that arise with other parties and internally with the company itself.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), as well as the ability to interact and collaborate with all areas of the business at all levels, including senior management.
  • Strategic thinker who sets the future state vision and adeptly manages and motivates the team to accomplish defined goals and objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects; self-motivated and proactive in identifying and recommending ways to do things better, more efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Proven negotiation skills and strong contractual knowledge across US and International terms and conditions.
  • Ability to interface effectively with internal stakeholders and develop strong relationships with external customers.
  • Demonstrate strong business judgment essential to shaping contracts for new business deals and ensuring contract results.
  • Oversee and/or conduct activities to assure the development, evolution, and implementation of department procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; a JD or MBA is preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in contracts negotiation and management.
  • Experience with domestic, international, and commercial contracts.
Physical Requirements:
  • General office environment and responsibilities requiring:
    • Extensive use of the computer which involves viewing a monitor and keyboarding for most of the workday;
    • Placing and receiving phone calls; and
    • Travel, as required.
