Position Overview

The Industrial Services Consultant II position is an integral part of the Illinois On-site Safety and Health Consultation Program which offers no cost and confidential occupational safety and health services to Illinois’ small and medium sized businesses committed to improving workplace safety and health. Through on-site visits, the position works with employers to identify workplace safety and health hazards, provide advice for compliance with OSHA standards, and assist in establishing and improving safety and health programs. This position reports to the Safety Consultation Supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts on-site consultations, observes work operations, and notes hazardous conditions and unsafe work practices. Travels throughout the state identifying and documenting hazards and unsafe working conditions and notifies employer. 
  • Performs opening and closing conferences to discuss the rights, obligations and program functions under the Illinois On-site Safety and Health Consultation Program and Federal and State OSHA standards with employers and employee representatives.
  • Prepares consultation reports including hazards noted, program deficiencies and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Attends training classes, courses, and conferences to upgrade skills and knowledge and to keep abreast of Federal and State OSHA standar
