The Senior Accountant is responsible for leading complex accounting activities and ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role plays a key part in monthly and annual close processes, financial statement preparation, forecasting, budgeting, compliance reporting, and operational financial analysis.

The Senior Accountant acts as a subject‑matter expert across multiple accounting areas, partnering with cross‑functional plant and corporate teams. This position requires advanced analytical capabilities, strong problem‑solving skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal oversight, and the capacity to drive process improvements within the accounting function.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead key components of the month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Prepare, review, and record journal entries including accruals, allocations, payroll, cost adjustments, and intercompany transactions.

  • Oversee and prepare roll‑forward of detailed balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring resolution of discrepancies and robust documentation.

  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements and management reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual periods.

  • Perform in‑depth analysis of departmental spending, cost variances, and performance against budget/forecast; provide recommendations for corrective action or further review.

  • Analyze financial activity related to Third‑Party Logistics (3PL) Order‑to‑Cash processes and ensure proper revenue and expense recognition.

  • Participate in development and refinement of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.

  • Prepare or review data submissions for external vendors, regulatory bodies, and required pharmaceutical reporting.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and relevant regulations.

  • Support internal and external audit activities through preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.

  • Perform accounts payable functions to include maintaining vendor records, invoice entry, resolving discrepancies, payments and reconciliation

  • Perform accounts receivable functions to include maintaining customer records, posting payments, collaboration on outstanding balances and reconciliation

  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes, reporting workflows, and internal controls.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal departments to ensure proper communication and transactional accuracy.

  • Demonstrate flexibility during peak periods including month‑end, year‑end, and special projects.

  • Prepare tax‑related filings and compliance documents as required.

  • Perform additional projects or tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; MBA or CPA preferred.

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.

  • SAP experience strongly preferred.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting practices.

  • Strong working knowledge of balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow interactions.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets and synthesize insights.

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional maturity.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently while maintaining quality results.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving capabilities.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
