Your new role
Due to our significant growth, we are expanding our investment capabilities in New York, focusing on Infrastructure, Property, Private Credit and Private Equity.
As a Senior Manager, Investment and Corporate Communications, you will be responsible for providing reputational risk assessments, and communications advice and support for the Fund’s investment activities in the Americas. As part of the Corporate Affairs team, you will play a key part in helping AustralianSuper deliver on its long-term investment strategy and ongoing strong performance, through growing its international investment portfolio and reinforcing its reputation as a leading global investor.
This role is based on-site at 1251 Avenues of the Americas, with a hybrid work schedule; and reports to the Principal, Corporate Affairs Americas, who is based in New York.
Key responsibilities:
Provide communications advice and support to the Investments Team on a range of transactions and investment activities across Private Equity, Real Assets and Private Credit.
Work closely with transaction teams to provide reputational risk assessments on potential investments to develop appropriate mitigation strategies and plans during the asset ownership period.
Identify and map key stakeholders and develop engagement plans in relation to investment transactions and asset ownership plans.
Build and manage relationships with counterparts at investment portfolio companies and investment partners.
Support proactive and reactive media engagement for the Fund, including preparation of media statements and briefings, in relation to the Fund’s investments primarily in the Americas.
Identify opportunities to build the Fund’s profile and brand, engage with key stakeholders and grow our reputation as an experienced global investor, and an attractive place to grow a career in investments.
Build internal knowledge of our global investment portfolio and acquisitions through the contribution of content to internal communications programs in the Americas and globally.
Ensure investment activity is appropriately leveraged across the Fund’s internal and external channels, ensuring we are considering a breadth of stakeholders in our communications approach.
What you'll need
Relevant tertiary degree in strategy, commerce, political science, communications, finance or related field.
At least 7 years of professional experience in communications or corporate affairs, within financial services, funds management, professional services or consultancy.
Private markets experience in Infrastructure, Real Estate, Private Credit or Private Equity is highly advantageous.
Significant experience in transaction and issues management, media and external communications and corporate communications.
Experience developing and implementing communications plans and campaigns, and an ability to identify and leverage opportunities to build profile and credibility.
Experience in identifying and mitigating reputation risks in relation to transaction activity and/or asset ownership.
Strong influencing skills and proven ability to manage business relationships with flexibility, innovation and diplomacy.
Strong understanding of investment asset classes and emerging investment themes and challenges.
Confidence to engage with senior executives and decision makers to provide independent advice.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
