Neuroscience Tenure Track

Grinnell College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Neuroscience beginning fall 2026. Assistant Professor preferred; Associate Professor possible. A Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field is required. We seek a neuroscientist who has expertise through their research or teaching in an area of neuroscience that explores problems or systems that extend beyond the traditional foundational disciplines of biology, chemistry, and psychology. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to modify our curriculum, fostering students' ability to understand and engage in interdisciplinary work that stretches significantly beyond the sciences, encompassing humanistic and societal fields of study.

The candidate will be appointed in a department of the Science Division most appropriate to their disciplinary training and will join a rotation of faculty who teach courses in our neuroscience concentration: a 200-level intro core course with laboratory and our senior seminar. Other teaching will include an advanced course in the candidate’s area of specialization, suitable existing courses in the home department, and our first-year tutorial, (a topical writing/critical thinking course for first-year students, the only College-wide requirement beyond the completion of a major in an individually-advised curriculum; all faculty teach this course once every three or four years). The teaching load is five courses over two semesters; lab sections count as 1/2 course.
