Senior Research Associate, LNP Preclinical Development

We are hiring an experienced Senior Research Associate to join our Preclinical Development team. Reporting to the Director, LNP and Novel Delivery Technologies, this position will help advance Metagenomi’s non viral delivery platform and support the development of next generation editing technologies. This role will be based in Emeryville, California.

How you’ll contribute: 

• Collaborate across pre-clinical therapeutics teams to help drive the  development of  novel editing technologies 
• Perform genome editing  experiments and execute molecular assays to evaluate results at  DNA, RNA and protein levels
• Develop and execute assays to characterize biophysical properties of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations
• Participate in teams to meet project timelines and milestones
• Prepare accurate and timely data summaries and contribute to writing of reports, papers, and patent manuscripts

 

What you'll bring:   

• Undergraduate degree or advanced degree  in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, Chemistry or related discipline and at least five years of closely related experience
• Direct experience working with primary cells, culturing, transfection and performing downstream molecular assays
• Experience with gene editing and/or mRNA-based therapeutics
• Hands on experience with purifying/isolating gDNA and mRNA from cells and animal tissues
• Experience with single plex and multiplex quantitative PCR (e.g., qPCR, ddPCR)
• Experience performing plate-based biochemical assays
• Effective oral and written communication skills, particularly when collaborating with other teams with limited knowledge of your area of expertise
• Extremely organized and able to efficiently manage your time and workflow including prioritizing  both long-term projects and day-to0day responsibilities 
• Ability to work independently as well as in a results-oriented team
• Able to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools (Benchling, Geneious, Prism, etc.) 
• Independent and self-sufficient, but knows when to ask questions or seek support
• Self-motivated, passionate about your work, and eager to continuously learn
  
  
  

California Pay Transparency Disclosure:

This position is classified as an exempt salaried position under the Federal Labor Standards Act.  The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $100,000 - $120,000  You will also be eligible to receive equity, bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
