Maintenance/Janitor

Overview

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

 

To perform basic, routine maintenance and keep the property clean and safe.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must be able to work autonomously
• Ability to complete all tasks quickly and efficiently
• Good verbal communications with ability to keep others informed
• Assist in supervision of community service workers
• Demonstrate experience providing resourceful solutions to resolve problems
• General maintenance duties
• Room set-ups
• Maintain all storage areas
• Inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies
• Mopping, sweeping and buffing of floors
• Lawn maintenance
• Clearing snow from sidewalks in winter and putting down snow melt
• Ability to make food pick-ups
• Assist with security of Corps property
• Assist with seasonal programs as needed
• Schedule and transport vehicles for oil changes and other necessary maintenance
• Assist in maintenance of officer quarters as needed
• Cleaning Chapel weekly

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Maintenance Experience

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Ability to stand for 3-4 hours at a time
• Ability to lift, pull and carry up to and in excess of 60 pounds
• Have a valid Ohio Driver’s license
• Ability to pass OTIS test and drive 12-passenger van
• Be insurable by The Salvation Army
