Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.
As a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Psychiatry you will:
• Evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of the patient’s medications.
• Follow the patient’s progress to determine the effects of the patient’s medications on his or her health.
• Consult with the patient’s physicians and other health care providers in selecting the medication therapy that best meets the patient’s needs and contributes effectively to the overall therapy goals.
• Review and verify physician orders for appropriateness
• Participate in Patient care rounds
• Counsel and educate patients about their medications.
• Serve as a preceptor for Pharmacy resident and students
• Educate pharmacists, nurses and physicians
• Participate in hospital committees
• Participate in Pharmacy Staff monthly meetings and weekly huddles
• Conducting medication group and discharge counseling, assist with admission and discharge medication reconciliation and streamline/ensure appropriate formulary use
• Improving medication adherence, reducing antipsychotic polypharmacy, and providing a patient-centered care through shared decision making
• Monitoring for drug-related adverse events, reduce the overuse of psychotropic medications and provides comprehensive medication management through collaboration with the care team
Qualifications include:
• Required: Graduation from an ACPE accredited pharmacy school, with PharmD degree
• Required: ASHP accredited PGY-2 Residency, or PGY-1 residency with • Minimum of 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience in area of specialty
• Required: Registered Pharmacist with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy
• Preferred (required within one year of employment): Board Certification in area of specialty
• Preferred: ACLS Certification
• Preferred: Member of American Society of Health-system Pharmacists (ASHP), and/or Maryland Society of Health-system Pharmacist (MSHP), or other relevant professional organization
• Preferred: Prior experience precepting students and residents
Work Schedule:
Full time, day shift. Monday through Friday position (no weekends, no on calls)

Pay Range:
$105,664.42 - $158,496.00In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount or if the position is Per Diem (offering a fixed rate), salary discussions will occur during the screening process.
