Tech College Overview:

The Tech College Engineering organization is responsible for providing technical education to our engineering and engineering-adjacent workforce.

Specifically, we strive to:

• Give technical associates the means to be able to keep their skills relevant.

• Maintain a company-wide culture of learning so that Capital One continues to progress as a technology company.

• Facilitate the successful delivery of projects across the company through internally democratizing knowledge specific to Capital One’s tech ecosystem.

Across our organization, you’ll find teams working towards these goals in a number of ways. Sometimes there will be partnership with our Learning and Development team in order to create in-person learning programs and workshops. Other times there will be more traditional projects that focus on developing educational content and tooling for Capital One’s engineering community. And, lastly, it’s not uncommon to find us providing consultation to organizations throughout the company who’d like assistance with their own educational efforts.

CODA Position Overview:

As a Manager Software Engineering in CODA you will:

• Share your Software Engineering experience by:

  • Creating asynchronous content

  • Developing and delivering hands-on workshops.

  • Mentoring new software developers as they transition from previous careers to being software engineers at Capital One  

• Manage and lead a team of engineers, to develop products that will fuel our growth as a Tech company and help our associates develop cutting-edge skills. 

• Partner with the CODA Programs organization to build successful software engineers for Capital one. 

We understand you want to continue to develop your technical skills. Tech College is committed to ensuring that engineers are taught by active engineers. You will work to help us ensure at least 50% of your team’s time is used to build software that will be used as an example for how software should be built at Capital One.

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree

• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)

• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

• At least 2 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree

• 7+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go

• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service

• 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks

• 5+ years of people management experience

• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
