Job Description:

The stable assistant works stable shifts as needed, to complete the stable routine.  Stable assistant will work with manager on duty during the week to complete stable chores, and act as the "barn manager" on Sunday: Duties include feeding, turnout, supervising student workers, supervising free rides, maintaining arenas, organizing the barn for the evening, and other related stable chores.

Essential Job Functions:

30% A.   Ensure horses are cared for, fed, watered and turned in or out. Make desicsions regarding turnout based on weather.

20% B.   Maintain arenas for the week, including dragging and using the water trailer

15% C.   Complete weekly stable tasks, including stall cleaning, scrubbing water troughs, cleaning feed buckets, cobwebbing, ect.

15% D.   Supervise student workers

10% E.   Organize and close up barn for the evening, including managing turnout schedule until night check

5% F.   Assist with stable laundry

5% G.  Perform any seasonal work such as raking leaves, cleaning up debris, or shoveling snow.

Education:

Required:  High school degree; basic knowledge of horse care and handling

Preferred:  Bachelor’s degree

Professional Experience:

Required:  2+ years horse experience, preferably hunt seat equitation
