Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as a Data Scientist III, Pricing Analytics and Forecasting within their Pricing Strategy and Revenue Management Technology Department. The Pricing Strategy and Revenue Management Technology Department supports franchisees in maximizing their revenue potential by providing them with technology, analytics, tools, and processes for driving optimal pricing and promotional rate decisions. They also measure and report weekly revenue trends to internal stakeholders to identify potential opportunities and gaps. As a key member of this team, you will provide thought leadership and drive our Analytical capabilities, and collaborate with other Center of Excellence cross-functional groups such as marketing, Loyalty, Technology, etc.,

Your Responsibilities
Drive predictive models and possess expertise in implementing forecasting models, regression and feature engineering, model training, validation, and testing. Analyze historical data and identify patterns, trends and correlations to inform forecasting models
Build statistical models to drive business decisions, automate reports to provide data insights
Collaborate with IT, data delivery, and analytic teams to enhance data infrastructure to support Data science, AI modeling capabilities and deploy to evaluate pricing, promotional strategies, and segmentation strategies
Create system health KPIs for vendor-provided RM system solutions and measure price optimality. Design A/B tests test pricing and promotional strategies. Track and measure competitor price position and price elasticity at the hotel level, benchmarked against local comp and STR reports
Perform self-directed ad-hoc analysis to identify drivers of business outcomes. Report findings, recommendations, and conclusions resulting from analysis. Create data visualizations in Tableau. Matplotlib, Seaborn Excel or other similar tools to present findings
Research and maintain subject matter expertise in industry, consumer, economics, and internal factors that impact the business unit’s decision-making. Work with Corporate Strategy, FP&A, and Analytics team to understand organizational view and financial impacts
Your Experience, Skills & Competencies
Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Information Systems, Business Analytics or other related quantitative field
2+ years of professional experience working with structured data to perform statistical analysis, develop predictive models, and provide business insight.
High Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL is required and experience with a range of algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised methods
Experience in ML frameworks such as tensor flow, PyTorch, Keras, and Scikit-Learn for building and deploying models is a plus
Knowledge of pricing and revenue management principles and Hotel management is a plus
Must be an energized self-starter who can work independently
1+ years of professional experience creating data visualizations in tableau and creating and scheduling in-memory data cubes and connecting to live data, professional experience utilizing R/Python or other statistical, analytic software to answer complex business problems
2 years of professional experience performing predictive analytics (including forecasting, time series, linear and logistic regression)
Experience performing power analysis and significance testing, implying causal inferences and extracting insights from data
Solving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment and ability to demonstrate initiative, persistence, and resolve in creative problem
Strong strategic and critical thinking skills, asks thoughtful and relevant questions, ability to draw conclusions from data and formulate hypotheses
Strong initiative, organization, communication, teamwork, collaboration, and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal skills: ability to build positive relationships, exhibit and earn trust
Must be able to work independently and apply high level critical thinking skills to understand and solve complex problems having multiple variables, and work across departments and disciplines to design solutions.
