Job Summary
The purpose of this recruitment is to create a pool of qualified applicants who can be called upon to fill temporary needs as they arise, including administrative roles across campus departments. These appointments are short-term and may last from a few days to up to six months, depending on the needs of the assignment. There is no probationary period, and these positions do not lead to permanent status. Appointments may be extended or ended at any time.
Depending on the assignment, these positions may be responsible for general office support tasks such as processing mail, maintaining records and files, scheduling appointments, preparing reports, handling documents, assisting with budgets and data entry, and providing basic customer service or problem resolution. While many roles support an entire department or functional area, some may assist individuals. At higher levels, responsibilities may include coordinating work or providing lead direction to others.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Efficient at coordinating various clerical tasks, performing standard office procedures, adhering to deadlines, and adjusting priorities. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Additionally, the successful candidate will be knowledgeable in the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Ability to professionally represent the assigned department when collaborating with CSULB staff, students, and other constituents as needed.
- Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Administrative Support Assistant (ASA)
ASA I Equivalent to one year of administrative support experience required.
ASA II Equivalent to three years of administrative support experience required.
Administrative Support Coordinator (ASC)
ASC I Equivalent to four years of administrative support experience required.
ASC II Equivalent to five years of administrative support experience required.
**A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for two years experience.**
Compensation
ASA I $3,680 to $4,517 per month
ASA II $3,680 to $5,417 per month
ASC I $3,864 to $6,072 per month
ASC II $4,058 to $6,653 per month
Time Base
This is a Temporary, Emergency Hire, and/or Hourly Intermittent appointment. No probationary period. No permanent status is granted.
