Boeing Global Services Engineering is seeking a Sr. Manager to lead the KC-46 Sustainment Engineering Fleet Response Team and serve as KC-46 Sustainment Deputy Chief Engineer.
The Fleet Response Team functions as the primary interface for domestic and international customer engineering reach-back support, crisis management team activities, and leading cross functional fleet level investigations prioritizing top fleet degraders first. This senior manager will coordinate cross functionally with BDS Engineering leadership as well as BCA senior leadership and has primary responsibility for briefing fleet level investigations to Customer, Program, BDS, BCA, BGS leadership teams.
Position Responsibilities:
- Sr. Manager who will lead and provide support to Fleet Response Team and Sustainment Service Engineering Team Manager and team.
- Serves as KC-46 Sustainment Deputy Chief Engineer with associated delegated responsibilities found in PRO-6429 to ensure safety and quality integrity of technical decisions in support of KC-46 fleet.
- Coordinates Crisis Management Team activities
- Integrates across business units and functions to lead fleet-level investigations (BDS Engineering, BCA Engineering, BDS/BGS Program Management, Supply Chain Management, Contracts, etc.)
- Develops Statement of Work (SOW) for engineering investigations and mitigation procedures
- Plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the investigation
- Provides technical leadership for the development and execution of response plans and recommended implementation of solutions
- Communicates to senior levels within Boeing and with key customer stakeholders (BDS/BGS Senior Engineering leadership, BDS/BGS Senior PM Leadership, and domestic/international customers)
- Leads Engineering reach-back support
- Manages in-flight emergency processes
- Requires ability to establish budgets & schedules and perform Cost Account Manager (CAM)-duties by managing cost accounts via earned value metrics and performance measures.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with customers, peers, suppliers, direct reports and other stakeholders.
- Manage team to budget including providing staffing forecast, leading hiring activities to maintain staffing levels. Ensures all required staffing is loaded in Adaptive Planning and taken to proper CCBs for approval.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team to visualize their personal potential while helping each achieve their career goals.
- Occasional travel is required (i.e. USAF Air Force Bases and Japan)
Security Clearance:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelors, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in a STEM field
- 10+ years of experience leading or managing Military projects and/or teams
- 10+ years of experience building strong business partner relationships
- Able and willing to travel 20% of the time domestically
- Experience mentoring, teaching and/or career development
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance
- Direct experience with military Crisis Management type exercises, and/or teams.
- Earned Value Management experience
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
