About the role

Description

The Department of Political Science at Tufts University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in the subfield of political theory to begin September 2026. The position is open with respect to scholarly and teaching concentrations. Teaching topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to, civic studies, the pursuit of justice, citizen behavior under conditions of injustice, the intellectual foundations of liberal democracy, and political rhetoric. The promise of excellence in scholarship and teaching is required. Teaching duties are two courses per semester, and the successful candidate will be expected to teach the history of ancient and modern political thought at the introductory level.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. or ABD in political science is required; completion of degree by September 2026 is strongly preferred.
