Health and Benefits HR Technology Consultant

What can you expect?

The Mercer Health and Benefit Midmarket Human Resources Technology Consultant (HR Tech Consultant) is the primary client and vendor-facing representative for Mercer Health and Benefit's Midmarket segment. This person will collaborate with prospects, clients, technology vendors, and account teams. This role demands an attitude of service and an ability to communicate in a constructive, collaborative way with co-workers who may or may not be highly technical.

The HR Tech Consultant will assist employers with the HR Technology and outsourcing that enables their organizations to thrive. This person will provide vendor-neutral, objective consultation to employers with 100-to-5,000 employees to help them align with technology systems that support their business.

We will count on you to:

  • Develop a clear understanding of client’s objectives and desires related to the human resources, payroll and/or benefits management solutions (i.e., benefits administration, payroll, HCM, etc.)
  • Excel at drawing out the client’s strategic expectations and technical requirements and connecting those to the vendor’s capabilities, limitations, and technical functionality
  • Provide ongoing consultation to clients and account teams during HR Technology vendor selection or implementation
  • Lead HR Technology and outsourcing engagements for clients and prospects
  • Gather and maintain market intelligence on leading HR technology vendors and their solutions as well as the integration possibilities
  • Triage the appropriate internal/external resources to execute HR technology requests and oversee (but not directly lead) marketing efforts
  • Manage multiple projects at once while delivering superior service
  • Speak in front of small and large groupings

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in benefits technology and/or HCM
  • Professional experience and knowledge of Payroll, HR, and/or Benefits procedures, business protocol and practices, web-based software applications, and systems integration
  • Experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing HR technology solutions
  • Experience in leading and managing groups of people in a project environment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate project goals and objectives, project status, and deliverables with team members and management, including senior executives as needed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to clearly document processes
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and written
  • Ability to resolve critical project issues and find amiable solutions for all parties, protecting client’s interests and timelines
  • Strong time management, initiative, and interpersonal skills necessary
  • Ability and willingness to travel for industry conferences (projected travel 10-15%)

What makes you a stand out?

  • Industry or technology certifications such as PHR, CEBS or CPP preferred
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel. Strong experience with PowerPoint preferred
