Omega Technical Service has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Design Specialist. The Senior Design Specialist will be responsible for developing designs for complex engineering systems and preparing detailed drawings and technical reports. This role includes participating in the development and refinement of design standards and procedures, as well as performing thorough technical reviews of design documents and specifications. The specialist will provide engineering support to construction activities, including the preparation and review of construction installation specifications, procurement specifications, and bid analyses. Additional responsibilities include initiating and reviewing Design Change Forms, coordinating with subcontractors or other responsible groups for approval and incorporation, and resolving existing design discrepancies using the most cost-effective solutions that meet established design criteria. The Senior Design Specialist will also provide dispositions for Nonconformance Reports and Field Problem Memos by determining compliant solutions, perform inspections of facilities, systems, or components to evaluate conditions, and review construction procedures to ensure alignment with design engineering criteria and applicable codes. This position requires in-depth analysis of advanced technical concepts and the ability to devise innovative approaches to complex engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 2D-Microstation and/or 3D-S3D Plant Designer staff augmentation support to SRNS.
- Provide engineering analysis; 2D drawing development utilizing MicroStation or 3D Modeling using Hexagon’s S3D software, Piping, Equipment and HVAC modules; design development; and, generation of design output documents.
- Prepare, review, and approve design change forms, disposition nonconformance reports, review vendor documents and incorporate into 2D drawings or 3D models, and resolve construction issues.
- Design services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

An associates degree in a technical discipline and 10 - 12 years work experience or 12-16 years of practical work experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Requires an in-depth knowledge of engineering systems, applications, calculations, materials, construction methods, and relevant computer applications.
- Applies advanced principles and practices in engineering to resolve problems identified by construction organizations in a timely manner.
- Continued updating on new technologies and hardware in the industry is necessary.
- Candidate must demonstrate 10 years of experience as a Plant Designer, including experience with site layouts, piping layouts, electrical commodity details, HVAC duct and equipment layouts, material handling, jumper design, and vendor document reviews.
- Significant experience using 2D-Microstation and/or Hexagon’s S3D software, Piping, Equipment and HVAC modules is required.
- Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards for design such as ASME B31.3 and NFPA 101 is required.
- Candidate must have the ability to produce quality documents with attention to detail.
- Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required.
