Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Orion, MI on a full-time basis.

About the Role

We are seeking a Quality Launch Coordinator ( QLC) to play a critical role in ensuring flawless execution of our manufacturing quality systems during vehicle launches. This position supports workstation readiness, training, and process validation while driving resolution of issues impacting plant and external metrics. The QLC will oversee the end-of-process flow of vehicles through the Quality Launch Plan, ensuring that every product meets our highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Launch Planning & Execution

  • Establish, execute, and track the Manufacturing Quality Launch Plan.
  • Support and deliver all Launch Process Deliverables.
  • Supervise the hourly Quality Core Team.
  • Quality Standards
    • Implement GM Built-in-Quality principles across assembly and manufacturing processes.
    • Develop standardized work for all quality functions.
    • Establish and reference Product Quality Standards in production and quality processes.

Process & Product Validation

  • Participate in PFMEA development and RPN reduction.
  • Validate manufacturing and quality processes (Dynamic Vehicle Test, Wheel Alignment, Water Leak Testing, Squeak & Rattle, Color Harmony, Wiring/Hose Assessment).
  • Ensure export requirements are met.
  • Execute readiness and change control for quality and production stations.

In-Process Control & Verification

  • Develop and implement Process Control Plans.
  • Correlate dimensional plans/gage readiness with quality data (GCA, QAP, water test).
  • Validate error-proofing implementation and verification stations.
  • Conduct capability studies of KPCs and PQCs.
  • Implement Launch Assurance processes (Global Customer Audit, Drive Audit, Batch & Hold).
  • Feedback & Continuous Improvement
    • Update Build-By-Objective (BBO) quality templates.
    • Define data collection and reporting requirements.
    • Drive problem solving and fast response during early builds.
    • Facilitate global communication between plants building the same product.

Quality System Management

  • Staff and train hourly launch team members.
  • Define manpower requirements.
  • Support Manufacturing Quality Readiness Reviews (MQRRs).

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Plant floor experience in a lean environment. 
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of Quality principles.
  • Hands-on experience with PFMEA, process validation, and error-proofing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced launch environment
