Supervisor, Shipping Receiving & Warehouse

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shipping/Receiving - The incumbent will supervise all aspects of shipping/receiving. This position works with the employees as necessary to resolve receiving, shipping, storage, and disbursement concerns. In addition, he/she will continually assess the shipping and receiving activities and warehouse configuration to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Supervise Shipping/Receiving Personnel
- Manage vacation and overtime
- Monitor staffing requirement to meet Shipping and Receiving objectives
- Create and maintain department working instructions
- Shipping/Receiving transactions in SAP
- Freight Claim handling procedures
- Stock transfers to and from the dock
- Cross–train team members on all shipping/receiving activities and the safe operation of equipment.
- Promote and facilitate “Best Practice” shipping, receiving, stores techniques (Visual Factory, JIT, Kanban, etc.)
- Ensure delivery of finished products to the customer is timely, of the highest quality level, and cost effective including out-going EDI.
Warehouse and Inventory Storage Responsibilities - The incumbent will be responsible for developing and deploying effective inventory management strategies and supervising the supporting inventory transactions and physical movement of inventory.
- Maintain an organized and well documented warehouse area.
- Assist in the implementation and maintain the Warehouse Management System in SAP.
- Supervise the material flow of material in and out of the warehouse.
- Develop and conduct a cycle counting program to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate an effective material transfer/delivery process from receiving and the warehouse to the production area.
- Develop and maintain a warehouse planning process to ensure adequate storage capacity.
General Responsibilities
- Development of specific work procedures to minimize risks.
- Training of employees on the procedures and enforcing their use.
- Facilitating workplace inspections and closure of findings.
- Facilitating employee involvement in developing, implementing and revising safety and health procedures.
- Performance towards assigned site safety and health program objectives.
- Timely incident investigations and correction of root causes.
- Participation / attendance at safety meetings and training.
- Tracking of safety issues to closure.
- Collaborates with other functions as-needed to achieve organizational objectives and plan improvements.
- Promote and support a teamwork approach to achieving goals.
- Ensure open and effective communications.
- Promote and support workforce diversity.
- Maintain a work environment where third party intervention is not required or desired.
- Perform other duties as directed
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from a four-year college or university and/or Associate’s degree with 5 years of relatable experience.
- 5 years of experience related in warehouse management and shipping/receiving supervision is required.
- The qualified candidate must have the ability to work with little supervision, have strong human relation skills and be able to handle stressful situations. Materials planning experience desired.
- A certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) a plus.
