Software Engineering Manager, PL&R

The Programming Languages and Runtime and devProd teams are part of the Infra organization at Meta, which is responsible for driving the servers and technologies that power the Meta family of products: AI/ML, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, AR/VR. We specialize in compilers, virtual machines, programming languages, and developer tools. Our work on compilers helps to make our data-centers run more efficiently and reduce our ecological footprint. Our work on programming languages and developer tools make our developers more efficient in their work. We lead company-wide infrastructure changes affecting 10s of thousands of developers daily. We contribute and collaborate with the Open Source community on many of our projects.Software Engineering Manager, PL&R Responsibilities

• Be a subject matter expert in the field of AI frameworks, developer tools, compilers, runtimes and virtual machines, or programming languages
• Be both highly technical and an effective people manager
• Lead teams that deliver on multiple projects of increasing dependencies in an ambiguous or high-impact area
• Work with your team and cross functional partners to define and influence strategy
• Drive roadmap creation and execution
• Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives and have an impact at an organizational level
• Work with cross functional partners and stakeholders to set and achieve optimal outcomes
• Partner with leadership to influence and drive organization design, contribution, and prioritization

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of people management experience
• 5+ years experience coding in one of the following languages: C++, Python, Rust, Java, Golang, PHP
• Experience in: compilers, operating systems, computer architecture, performance analysis, or developer tooling
• Demonstrated experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management
• BA/BS in Computer Science or relevant field (In lieu of degree, 4+ years similar work experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in programming language design, compiler optimization, or backend code generators
• Experience in developer tooling, such as debuggers, profilers, typecheckers, or IDEs
• Experience in AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Experience in GPU technologies, such as CUDA/ROCm libraries, Triton language, LLVM MLIR representation
• Experience in Program Management: evaluating customer needs, defining viable products, developing a product strategy, and ensuring customer adoption

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
