Detailed Job Description:

Performs high-level customer and specialized services for a variety of general cleaning and maintenance tasks associated with maintaining a clean and healthy environment.  Provides specialized advanced environmental and project cleaning in academic learning and healthcare environments.  Sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes and polishes hard floors by hand or use of power equipment; cleans carpets and upholstery using chemical mixtures for floor stripping and upholstery and carpet cleaning; ensures chemicals are in properly labeled containers, and used in proper dilution based on label instructions and department cleaning procedures; removes debris; cleans classrooms, offices and restrooms; cleans walks, entrances, ramps; empties exterior trash receptacles; may operate specialized snow and ice removal equipment; moves furniture; climbs ladders and scaffolding; operates and maintains equipment and supplies for cleanliness; assists in cleaning emergency spills; restocks restrooms; notifies supervisor when supplies are low; assists in the training of Custodial Worker 1 staff as requested and assigned.  Subject to changes in shift/hours as operations may dictate; may work overtime.  Requires completion of successful background check.

Experience:

Major Work Characteristics Knowledge of (1) safety practices*; skill in (2) operation of cleaning equipment; skill in (3) use of basic hand tools*; ability to (4) use whole numbers, ability to (5) establish friendly atmosphere; ability to (6) lift 25-75 pounds.  Minimum Education Requirement: Six months in Custodial Worker 1 title or equivalent experience; documentation of successful completion of department specific, advanced custodian certification testing (examples include Cleaning Management Institute, 3M(TM) S.M.A.R.T. Program, or other certification program recognized in the cleaning industry as reputable); ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and to read and write common vocabulary plus. Position specific minimum classification requirements may exist depending on the employing unit.  Unusual Working Conditions: May work various shifts; may be exposed to high and low temperature; may be exposed to weather; may handle hazardous materials; constantly stands, walks, and grips; frequently kneels, stoops, crouches, squats, and reaches; frequently pushes, pulls, lifts and carries.

Additional Information:

The targeted salary range for this position is $15.00-$18.75 per hour.

The work schedule for this position is 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
