Position Overview:

Program Mentors use specialized program content and career expertise to coach and guide students through programs and support career competency development. As faculty members, they are also expert in the WGU model and services and strive to develop and deepen individual students lifelong learning skills. Program Mentors are assigned a group of students and are accountable concerning each student's academic progress and success, typically from program start to finish. Program Mentors are responsive to student needs and vary the type, length, method, and intensity of support best matched to a learner’s pace, strengths, and goals.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in nursing or a related field
  • Active RN license (unencumbered) within the employee's state of residency
  • Three years' history providing adult learner student support, mentoring, coaching, instruction, or equivalency
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse learner profiles
  • Current Family/Psychiatric NP license strongly suggested but not required
  • Background in distance education and with online students very helpful
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skill needed

Compensation Expectation:

  • This role is exempt from overtime eligibility and is paid as a biweekly salary over 26 paychecks per year, which is intended to cover all time worked each week. The pay rate is dependent on education, experience, compensation equity, and budget. The general start rate range for this not-for-profit role is from $60,000 to $67,000 annually, but is TBD and basically stands without negotiation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit/stand for extended periods working at a computer
  • Occasionally lift up to 15 pounds at a time
  • Infrequently travel to meetings as required
