About the role

The Team:

The Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest tertiary referral centre, and our pharmacy team comprised of specialist pharmacists, rotational pharmacists and leadership roles forms the largest division of the pharmacy department. We provide comprehensive services across diverse areas, including inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and high-acuity settings.

Our pharmacists collaborate closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to deliver exceptional, patient-centred, medicine-related care. The Role:

The Specialist Pharmacist - Emergency Medicine will:

  • Provide pharmacy services including clinical review to patients attending the Emergency Department (ED) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH).
  • Provide clinical expertise and leadership in the provision of Pharmacy Services in ED at the RHH.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives within ED.
  • Act as a leader and resource person in the field of emergency medicine for pharmacy and provide supervision, training, education and support to pharmacy staff and other disciplines.

You will need: 

  • Proven wide experience in pharmacy practices, particularly in clinical pharmacy, facilitating the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients in some or all areas of emergency medicine.
  • Experience in the use of frameworks to guide and develop clinical pharmacy services such as the APAC Guidelines, Pharmaceutical Review and Home Medicines Review.
  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team with the ability to foster collaboration, positivity, and teamwork within the workplace.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 2 April 2027. 

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Position Features: 

  • Occasional intrastate/interstate travel will be required.
  • Participate in a weekend and after hours on-call roster service with other pharmacists for out-of-hours provision of Pharmacy Services as required.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Allowances: 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
  • Market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata
