About the role

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Rolling Stock Technical Advisor to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will provide remote technical support and guidance to our clients, focusing on troubleshooting dual-mode locomotives and identifying potential suppliers. This position does not require a professional license, but it demands a strong understanding of rolling stock operations, maintenance, and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support:

  • Provide expert advice and remote assistance to clients experiencing technical issues with dual-mode locomotives.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems, offering practical solutions and guidance.

  • Assist clients in understanding and resolving complex technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance of rolling stock.

Supplier Identification:

  • Research and identify potential suppliers for parts, components, and services related to dual-mode locomotives.

  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, reliability, and compatibility with client requirements.

  • Provide recommendations and facilitate connections between clients and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.

Client Communication:

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored advice.

  • Document troubleshooting steps, solutions provided, and recommendations for future reference.

  • Ensure client satisfaction through professional and responsive support.

Technical Documentation:

  • Create and update technical documentation, manuals, and guides related to dual-mode locomotive maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Develop easy-to-understand instructional materials for clients to follow during troubleshooting processes.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements and best practices in rolling stock technology and maintenance.

  • Share knowledge and insights with the team to improve overall service quality and client support.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in rolling stock maintenance, with a focus on dual-mode locomotives.

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in locomotives.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues remotely.

  • Familiarity with supplier markets and procurement processes for rolling stock components.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in using remote support tools and software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a technical advisory or support role.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to rolling stock.

  • Familiarity with multiple locomotive manufacturers and their specific technical nuances.

Compensation Range:

$76,852.00 - $102,470.00
