About the role

Description

The Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester invites applications for a three-year-renewable, full-time faculty appointment in Music and Technology (non-tenure-eligable), beginning 1 July 2025.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music technology, including but not limited to digital audio production, electronic music composition, sound design, and interactive media.
  • Work with faculty and administration at the University to design, develop, and launch new degree programs.
  • Establish and maintain connections to industry
  • Develop and maintain an active research and creative agenda in the field of music and technology.
  • Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to enhance the integration of technology in music education and performance.
  • Participate in service activities at the departmental, school, and university levels.

In compliance with the NY Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $140,000. The University of Rochester considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Qualifications

  • A terminal degree (PhD, DMA, or equivalent) in music technology, composition, or a related field.
  • A distinguished record of teaching, research, and creative work in music.
  • Demonstrated expertise in areas such as digital audio production, electronic music, sound design, and interactive media.
  • Experience with current trends in the music technology industry, including best practices in product design and user research
  • Experience in program development and implementation is highly desirable
