Overview: The Director of Accounting is responsible for leading and strategically guiding our accounting department. This role oversees all core accounting functions — including AP, AR, treasury, billing, and general ledgers while working closely with senior leadership, private equity partners, and legal advisors to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and scalability. The Director of Accounting will help shape policy, maintain audit readiness, and ensure that company initiatives including (M&A, CPOM, Software Development).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the consolidation of the company’s legal entities including the leadership of the timely and accurate periodic month and quarter end closings and account reconciliations;
- Provide direct leadership over the general ledger and other accounting functions as assigned including team building and development;
- Prepare monthly internal financial statements and analysis for management. Provide support in the preparation of the external financial statements, footnote disclosures and management discussion and analysis reports currently reported to investors and bankers as needed;
- Support quarterly and annual tax provision and disclosures for inclusion in audited statements;
- Research accounting literature and apply technical standards to complex business transactions;
- Leadership over transition of acquired companies into CCS accounting policies and procedures including the monthly close cycle;
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures;
- Review and maintain a system of internal controls to ensure integrity of reporting;
- Develop and maintain accounting and finance policies and procedures including participation in the Finance Policy Committee;
- Partner with senior leadership and private equity stakeholders to align accounting strategy with company goals, legal structures, and M&A activity;
- Ensure accounting operations adapt and evolve with new company projects, cross-functional initiatives, or structural changes;
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to understand and manage the impact of corporate practice of medicine structures on accounting and reporting;
- Oversee month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and audit preparation;
- Work closely with the stakeholders on policy development, compliance, and internal controls;
- Prepare and deliver board-level and C-suite presentations on financial health, risks, and strategic accounting needs;
- Support automation and process improvement for the accounting department;
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy, documentation, and audit readiness;
- Provide mentorship and leadership development across the accounting team;
- Maintain compliance with CCS’s policies, procedures and mission statement;
- Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within CCS’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position; and
- Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by CCS for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company.
Job Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Experience with NetSuite and managing accounting operations in a healthcare or software environment.
- Proven experience in M&A accounting, private equity collaboration, and legal structure impact analysis.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes.
- Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills, with experience presenting to boards and executive teams.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally while maintaining accounting independence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with a high attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Excellent time management skills; and
- Ability to creatively assess impacts of new initiatives.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; and
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time);
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
- Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;
