Description
This is an academic emergency medicine position with a faculty appointment with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. The faculty member is expected to have an area of academic focus in emergency medicine education or research with scholarly productivity represented by publications and grants in the area of expertise. A minimum of 20% protected time will be allocated for academic work, depending on previous experience and funding.
The physician will serve as an attending physician in the Emergency Department at the Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, Hasbro Children’s Hospital Emergency Departments and clinical work at Newport Hospital Emergency Department may be arranged depending on need.
Qualifications
Assistant Professor Position requirements: Previous academic & scholarly work and productivity or administrative work in emergency medicine in areas of interest. Preferred Qualifications: Defined research area of focus with previous publication and grant funding, or defined area of expertise and productivity in clinical administration in one of the following areas: ED operations, quality and safety. Research/scholarly interest and experience in one of the following areas: cardiovascular emergencies, trauma, sepsis and shock, injury prevention, emergency ultrasound, neurological emergencies, medical simulation, digital health and translational research, women’s health, clinical informatics or health services research. Fellowship training or advanced degree in area of expertise.
Associate Professor Position requirements: Previous record of scholarly activity in emergency medicine research with extramural support, publications, and presentation of this work.
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree or fellowship training in an area of expertise; Ability to create and lead an independently funded unit in the area of research; Leadership in organizations in emergency medicine and/or in the area of focus in research or education; Research/scholarly experience in one of the following areas: cardiovascular emergencies, trauma, sepsis and shock, injury prevention, emergency ultrasound, neurological emergencies, medical simulation, digital health and translational research, women’s health, clinical informatics or health services research.
