JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Beaver is searching for a full time Maintenance Mechanic A to join their team. Duties include:
- Perform routine inspections, lubrication and repairs to heating and ventilating equipment such as fans, motors, air compressors, pumps, etc. by replacing motors, compressors, bearings and shafts, etc.
- Inspect, adjust and perform repairs to electric and pneumatic controls for above equipment
- Maintain and install electrical equipment; remove, replace and perform repairs to electrical motors, switches, relays, coils, etc.; repair and replace switches, lighting units, etc.; relocate lights, switches, wiring, etc.
- Perform routine plumbing repairs as replacing washers and faucets, repair and replace flush valves, cracked elbows, etc. and install plumbing fixtures, water lines, drain lines, etc.
- Perform ordinary carpentry work on buildings such as partitions, paneling, shelving, stair treads and risers, floors, doors, woodwork, etc.
- Carry out organized, scheduled preventive maintenance programs; inspect equipment and related items on periodic basis
- Repair lawn mowers, riding tractors, emergency lighting generators, leaf blowers, etc. by cleaning and adjusting spark plugs, adjusting carburetors, distributors, etc.
- Maintain and repair floor maintenance machines, vacuum cleaners, powered hand tools, etc.
- Repair and adjust door closers, locks, latches; install panic hardware, etc.
- Replace floor and ceiling tile, window glass, etc.
- Operate snow removal and grass mowing equipment
- Perform interior and exterior maintenance painting
- Inspect, repair and recharge fire extinguishers
- Test and maintain fire alarm system and emergency lighting system
- Assign work to lower grade employees when they are needed to assist in duties
- Operate University vehicle as required
Job Requirements: Requires the use of shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, various types of adjustable measuring instruments and the training generally applicable in a particular or specialized occupation. Equivalent to 1 to 3 years applied trades training. Over 1 up to and including 3 years of effective experience.
Work Schedule: 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
Days Off: Saturday, Sunday
NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER`S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS.
