Managing Director - Wastewater

Building on that legacy, we have an exciting opportunity for a Managing Project Director to lead our teams to deliver some of the largest wastewater treatment and solids management projects in Puget Sound. You will be supported by the more than 130 water planning and design professionals in our Puget Sound offices who share the same mission. To foster relationships with local clients, the candidate will ideally be located in Puget Sound, be open to relocation, or have strong relationships with Puget Sound clients. A remote work-from-home arrangement is allowed.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Managing Project Director, you will be paired with a deputy project manager, design manager, and project controls specialists to orchestrate the delivery of large ($100 million dollar plus) wastewater/solids projects. You will be responsible for interfacing with the client, managing the project scope, budget, and schedule, and proactively identifying and addressing project risks in collaboration with your team. We value your deep consulting and project management expertise, and that will be reflected in allocating meaningful time for building client relationships and developing/mentoring staff on your teams. Here is a list of your core responsibilities:

Project Management/Leadership

• Take charge of delivering 1 to 2 large wastewater and/or solids engineering projects, focusing on design and implementation.
• Oversee all aspects of project management, ensuring successful project outcomes within budget and schedule.
• Lead client and internal meetings, effectively communicating project progress and recommendations.

Client Engagement

• Cultivate and nurture strong client relationships, actively participating in marketing, client management, and contract negotiations.
• Play a key role in business development and strategic pursuits that support our standing as a leader in the industry.
• Represent the company at industry conferences and professional meetings.

Team Development/Mentorship

• Mentor mid-level project managers and rising deputy project managers, promoting their professional development and growth.
• Participate in office workgroups and training that assist in the continuous improvement of BC’s Project delivery expertise and tools.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related engineering fields of Mechanical Engineering, Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering; Master’s degree a plus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in water/wastewater/solids engineering and consulting.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the role of Project Manager for water/wastewater/solids planning and design projects.
• Served as Project Manager/Deputy Project Manager on a minimum of three design projects with a total project cost of over 100 million dollars.
• Demonstrated experience in leading or supporting competitive sales efforts with municipal clients.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative and matrixed team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience in the role of Project Manager for water/wastewater/solids design projects.
• Project Manager on water/wastewater/solids design projects with a total project cost of over 200 million dollars.
• Highly preferred if project experience includes design-build and CMAR project delivery methods.
• Program management experience in addition to Project Management Experience.
• PMP certification.
• Technical expertise in wastewater treatment design and/or solids management design.
