Internship-Residential and Educational Services

Job Description:

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Residential Instructor Intern to support our residential programs. This internship offers hands-on experience working directly with individuals in a residential care setting, while building professional skills in human services, education, and behavioral support.

Qualifications:

• Going to school to attain minimum of Associate’s degree in human services; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum 21 years of age
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Essential Responsibilities:

• Arrange and coordinate integrated activities within the community while ensuring active resident participation.
• Provide supervision and training on living skills needed to increase independence.
• Maintain on-going, cooperative communication with other service providers.
• Attend meetings with program personnel, employers, parents Family Outreach Workers and other service providers as requested by supervisor.
• Provide positive role modeling for residents both within and outside of the home.
• Follow approved treatment plans as outlined in the focus of treatment.
• Perform and/or assist clients with routine daily living skills.
• Maintain a safe, comfortable residence that provides options for expanding interests and improving opportunities for skill acquisition.
• Participate in available training opportunities geared toward expanding knowledge of treatment methods.
• Provide services to individuals with varied behavior issued, which may include physical aggression, verbal assault, inappropriate sexual comments, gestures and/or acts.
• Assist individuals with toileting and personal care needs when necessary. Provide documentation as needed for client files.
