Summary of Job Duties:

A medical laboratory scientist (MLS), also known as a medical technologist or clinical laboratory scientist, works to analyze a variety of biological specimens. They are responsible for performing scientific testing on samples and reporting results to physicians.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree from regionally accredited university in medical technology, medical laboratory science or approved science. Must include sufficient subject credits to allow for eligibility to take the ASCP or equivalent board exam for certification.
• 0-3 years in a clinical laboratory.
• ASCP or equivalent certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or discipline specific certification (C, H) passed within 12 months of eligibility.

• Conducts inventory counts on assigned areas, restocks supplies as needed, reports supplies to be ordered, and stores received supplies per storage requirements and regulations.

• Interacts with staff from various departments to coordinate the proper acquisition, testing, and reporting of patient test results.

• Performs function checks on analyzers, lab equipment and automation equipment. Completes machine maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshoots problems as required
