JOB SUMMARY
Direct and manage the transportation and fleet maintenance operations and 4-day per week ambient warehouse operation. Responsible for efficient, reliable and accurate performance of the foregoing operations. Responsible for budget performance for transportation, fleet maintenance and warehouse P&Ls, as well as people leadership of all teammates falling under these operations.
This role is located at our Schnucks Distribution Center located at 8338 Scudder Rd, Kinloch, MO 63140.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the shipment of product via Schnucks’ fleet to Schnucks stores and the maintenance of the fleet. Provides overall coordination of activities and directs these activities for the Managers. Creates and/ or authorizes all Standard Operating Procedures in the transportation and fleet maintenance groups. Ensures training is completed and remains up-to-date on these procedures.
Responsible for the receipt, management and shipment of products from the Schnucks operated warehouse. Provides the overall coordination of activities and directs these activities for the Manager and Supervisor. Creates and/ or authorizes all Standard Operating Procedures in the facility. Ensures training is completed and remains up-to-date on these procedures.
Establishes, maintains and promotes good relations with employees while also maintaining productivity, attendance and general order required for operations of three work groups. Facilitates all union discussions and negotiates union contracts for warehouse, transportation and fleet maintenance work groups.
Responsible for providing a safe working environment for teammates. Maintains training on safe procedures and practices and enforcement of these procedures and practices. Maintains relationship with the safety department, and incorporates safety recommendations into work, as appropriate.
Creates budgets for warehouse, transportation and fleet maintenance groups in-line with company strategic plans and with input from other company departments. Maintains P&L performance according to budgets.
Provides significant input to company strategic plans for the Distribution area. Investigates and implements new technology and processes in accordance with company strategic plans.
Summarize and monitor key performance measures applicative to process and financial execution. Develop action plans as necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
Minimum Years of Experience: 5 to 8 years; at least 5 years in a management role
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge
Knowledge of best practices in the logistics and transportation industry, including safety.
Knowledge of current DOT and OSHA rules and regulations, and how they apply to our operation.
Knowledge of warehousing fundamentals (safety, receiving, inventory, shipping practices), equipment usage, and facility layout.
Knowledge of fleet maintenance fundamentals (equipment procurement, maintenance standards, replacement cycles).
