Supervisor, Environmental and Life Safety Role:
Join our dedicated team of fire, life safety, and environmental professionals. We take pride in keeping all our fellow employees on our Rahway, NJ campus safe and in maintaining the site's storm water, wastewater and hazardous waste compliance with all local and state regulations.
Responsibilities:
The Environmental Life Safety Supervisor position is a 12 hour rotating shift. The Environmental Life Safety team monitors environmental and life safety systems for the site on a 24 hour, 7 day basis. The candidate that accepts the position is expected to work nights , weekends, and holidays when on shift. The position manages a team of 2 Environmental Life Safety Technicians responsible for maintaining the Fire, Life safety , storm and waste water systems for the site. The team responds to all life safety and environmental incidents on the Rahway campus.
Position is responsible for overseeing all wastewater / stormwater sampling activities required by both state and local agencies and ensuring chain of custody is maintained for sample submittals.
The Environmental Life Safety Supervisor is required to issue hazardous energy control (HEC) permits for all hot work, line break, and confined space work that is performed on environmental / waste water systems managed by the department.
Position reports directly to the Manager of Environmental Operations.
Qualifications Required
Education: High School Diploma
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Communication skills including clear and concise writing , engaging in effective one on one conversations, participating in meetings, and communicating clearly and respectfully.
Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Qualifications Preferred
Experience related to storm water and wastewater treatment /management.
Experience with incident and/or emergency response.
NJ Fire Inspector Certification (completed or in process)
Prior people management experience.
