Our ceilings manufacturing plant in Macon, Georgia is seeking a Maintenance Manager with solid leadership skills, in depth experience with planning and preventative maintenance, and commitment to ongoing process improvement to lead the maintenance organization in a unionized environment. This position is responsible for the safe and effective management and coordination of the maintenance team activities, stores, facilities, and the plant service organization. In addition, this position has oversight and ownership of maintenance support for safety issues, overall plant reliability, preventive maintenance, downtime planning and cost management of the direct and period expenses associated with the maintenance and support of the plant. The maintenance organization consists of approximately 9 salaried professionals and over 59 union employees

What you’ll do

  • Promote the continual improvement of Plant Reliability, through measurement and the implementation of maintenance effectiveness and maintenance efficiency practices including preventative and predictive Maintenance tools and practices.
  • Lead the overall down day planning and execution process to result in optimal equipment performance, maximum output and decreased scrap rate.
  • Forecast and execute plan for maintenance spend for both direct and period expenses. 
  • Promote the Plant Safety Process by leading the process and maintaining a high level of awareness and operating discipline for all plant safety policies.
  • Lead and manage the maintenance organization to include hire, training and development, performance management, discipline, termination and provide guidance to employees in interpretation of Plant and Company policies and the Union contract. 
  • Work to promote good employee relations by interacting with employees frequently and discussing and assisting in the resolution problems or complaints.
  • Work with the Engineering and Capital manager to create Plant Capital Budget process at Macon to ensure coordinated contact is made with corporate engineers with regards to capital budgeting issues.
  • Recommend and provide leadership support to the implementation of new process improvement projects related to safety, Plant Reliability, process effectiveness, and cost.
  • Stay abreast of technical developments and advances in appropriate fields, with specific focus on preventative and predictive maintenance tools that drive plant reliability. 
  • Promote excellence in housekeeping to achieve Level 2 and 3 housekeeping, using tools such as Lean and 5S.
  • Provide general direction and performance requirements for use of outside contractors and service representatives as well as utilizing such services in the most cost efficient manner within the parameters of the contract.
  • Management of stores, general building, and grounds issues, providing directions to the stores and grounds services supervisor.

 

What will make you successful

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college / university. 
  • In depth experience with preventative and predictive maintenance, planning, reliability and maintenance budgeting.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean, 5
