Chief of Staff, Production Network 

Fastly’s Edge Cloud platform is a globally distributed system that currently exceeds 200 Tbps of connected network capacity. Our job is to make the internet a better place where all experiences are fast, engaging and safe. 

We are looking for a Chief of Staff, to track all performance, efficiency and reliability related projects related to Fastly’s Production Network. In this role, you will look for early signs to detect if critical projects are not on-track and communicate on prioritization required across the teams.

Leveraging data you will develop and communicate actionable plans.

What You'll Do

• Monitor and report progress of preventative measure projects that Fastly has committed to as part of customer impacting post-mortems
• Develop processes to drive communication and alignment across teams, where engineers can report production near-misses and treat them as customer-impacting incidents. 
• Closely monitor the state of Fastly’s network and provide on-demand executive updates 
• Closely monitor network capacity, traffic and projected demand to report any imminent capacity deficits to the capacity planning team
• Oversee all complex and high level projects to ensure that cross functional dependencies come to fruition in a timely manner
• Design and facilitate tabletop exercises to ensure operational readiness for large traffic events. 
• Serve as a change advocate for adjusting resource allocations and priorities based on shifts in business trends and priorities.
• Establish a reliable and visible cadence for engineering reviews in order to ensure that complex projects are on track
• Evaluate production readiness before shipping new projects to production

Work Hours: 

• This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

What We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications:

• You have 5 years experience in monitoring and reporting key performance indicators of large scale networks
• You have at least 5 years of experience in influencing engineering and customer facing teams
• You have experience in presenting findings and status reports to leadership
• You take a customer first approach to decision making 
• A proven track record of running cross-functional results
• Experience in delivering both short-term tactical projects and long-term transformational initiatives
• You have a technical background either as an engineer or engineering project manager 
• This role does not have responsibility over product development, but does require a technical background in order to complete its overall project management responsibilities

Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $147,000 to $230,000.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
