JOB DESCRIPTION

Computer Network Technologist Sr I G08   /   ONESAF Operator

This position is full time working on the National Training Center Training Support Contract (NTCTSC) at the National Training Center (NTC).  NTCTSC brings to bear the full capabilities of many of the world’s best systems integration and engineering companies in the technical integration of live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) training support.  The NTC is in the Mojave Desert approximately forty miles northeast of Barstow, CA.  NTCTSC operations support the NTC mission to provide realistic joint and combined arms training and is focused on developing soldiers, leaders, and units of the United States military for success on the 21st Century Battlefield. 

The ONESAF Integrator support provides an analytical and advisory capability that enhances the LVC training as well as the overall Rotational Training Unit (RTU) training schedule. The ONESAF operator provides insight on the administrative capabilities of the National Training Center and translates that knowledge to the customer enhancing the overall training scenario.  The employee will overlay the virtual entity-level simulation that supports live, computer-generated forces and semi-automated forces applications.  Employee will prepare threat scenarios to support Army training objectives considering terrain, available combat power, and time limitations. Operate OneSAF semi-autonomous forces simulation system.  Provide feedback and support to testing and upgrade evolutions.  Employee will monitor and manage affiliated systems including Syscon and monitor exercise portrayal in the instrumentation system (IS). 

  OneSAF operator will build forces that represent the modular and future force and provides entities, units, and behaviors across the full spectrum of military operations.  Employee will model unit behaviors from the fire team to company level for all units for both combat and non-combat operations.  Employee is required to prepare and implement doctrinally correct behaviors with during Live fire operations.   Employee will maintain smooth operation of voice and data networks. Plan, evaluate, coordinate, and perform installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of the ONESAF and systems supporting Live Fire operations. Maintains technical expertise in the operations associated with Live, Virtual, and Constructive actions related to range and target operations of the National Training Center.  May propose solutions to management to ensure all resources required to perform rotational requirements are met or exceeded.  Maintains documentation including standard operational instructions. May coordinate third-party maintenance for systems support and upgrades.

Essential Functions:

  • Create LVC products for adjacent brigade, division, and joint task force operations.
  • Assist the NTC Operations support staff and the Rotational Training Unit (RTU) in the development of scenarios.
  • Provide training for NTC Operations support staff and other SME’s on developing scenarios.
  • Assist in future and current planning to provide guidance on target utilization software upgrades and live fire capabilities.
  • Performs other assigned duties as directed to maintain positive customer relations/communications and meet contractual requirements.
  • Be prepared to integrate requisite Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Mission Command (LVC+MC) within training environments that include individual training and venues for collective training of small to large groups.
  • Consults with users to design, create, and configure systems to meet their training requirements.
  • Operators are responsible for maintaining technical and tactical proficiency with the software and training support package (TSP) products for multiple LVC+MC capabilities.
  • Employee may be required to document system configurations, analyze the operational effectiveness of architectures in supporting mission needs and establish best practices and solutions; creates, tests and/or modifies computer system functions or programs, including prototypes as required to achieve desired functionality and performance optimization within a training environment.
