Position Overvi: 

Nursing Tutors at UNF play a vital role in supporting undergraduate nursing students in their academic journey. You will provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in undergraduate nursing courses. Nursing tutors guide students through their own learning and empower students to enhance their understanding of material, learn how to navigate their courses, develop effective study habits, and boost their confidence in their academic abilities. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct tutoring sessions in either one-on-one or small group arrangements. 
  • Assist students in reviewing nursing course concepts and preparing for future assignments. 
  • Provide tailored support based on individual learning needs and styles. 
  • Encourage students to develop effective study strategies and critical thinking skills. 
  • Identify and utilize useful external resources to reinforce student learning. 
  • Maintain a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where students feel comfortable. 
  • Communicate regularly with faculty and staff regarding upcoming content, student progress, and program feedback. 
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities as assigned in accordance with guidelines from the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). 

Requirements: 

  • Currently hold an unencumbered RN/APRN license in Florida. 
  • At least one year of full-time clinical practice in nursing.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively. 
  • Time management skills in organizing your schedule. 
  • Adaptability to adjust methods and recommendations based on student need. 
  • At least 4 hours a week of availability to hold in-person tutoring shifts in UNF SON on main campus as designated. 

Position Specifics:

  • OPS position – flexible but no more than 29 hours/week
  • Pay = $25/hour
  • Flexible schedule but needs to be coordinated with Director, School of Nursing to be conducive to student availability (generally Tuesdays and Thursdays).
