Job Overview

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center.  We have an opportunity for a Medical Staff Services Coordinator in our Medical Staff Office. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the successful candidate will act as a liaison between the SHC Credentialing Verification Office (CVO) and the SHCNC Medical Staff Office, supporting the credentialing and privileging application process.  

 

This position is full time, non-exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $29.75 - $42.00/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity. 

Responsibilities

This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Key responsibilities include

  • Initiate requests for credentialing and privileges to CVO, including but not limited to appointments, re-appointments, status changes, LOAs and other updates.
  • Receives and evaluates the credential file from the CVO and coordinates the approval process per the Medical Staff Bylaws
  • Coordinates and collaborates with the residency program directors, medical schools and others to facilitate Fellow / Resident/ Student/ Observer rotations.
  • Serves as a resource to and collaborates with the President of the Medical Staff, Chiefs of Staff, the Medical Committee of the Board of Governors, hospital administration, and individual members of the SHCNC medical staff.
  • Facilitation and execution of the on and off boarding and orientation of all physicians and advanced practitioners, and provide necessary information to the CVO.
  • Assisting with meeting scheduling, agenda creation, meeting notes, and action item accountability.
  • Medical staff schedule coordination. 
  • Generates queries and reports from credentialing and privileging database as requested.

 

Knowledge of Medical Staff Affairs operational process, related accreditation and certification requirements and federal and state regulations preferred.  Must have the ability to multitask, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, use independent judgement and be highly organized and detail oriented. Excellent computer skills required. Previous Joint Commission survey preparation and interview experience a plus.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Education

High School diploma or GED Required, Associates degree Preferred

Certification/Licensure

Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) preferred

Skills

Three years in Medical Staff services and/or five years in hospital experience preferred

Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements preferred.
