EOC Engineer B (Semiskilled) - Full Time

Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm

Job Description: 

PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the department Leader(s), the EOC Engineer B performs and documents maintenance and minor repairs of Life Safety systems to include but not limited to; Fire Doors, Fire Extinguishers, conducts scheduled Fire Drills, and assists in major repairs or installations to the building and grounds.

Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully the individual must have a minimum of 2 years experience in at lease one of the following specialized areas: Nurse Call Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, or Locksmith/Card Access Systems. This experience will support the safety, security, and communication systems within our facility. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Cal/OSHA regulations, NFPA codes, California Title regulations, Joint Commission standards, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must maintain a valid CA driver's license and current DMV report, the results of which are within acceptable standards as per SVMC policy as a condition of employment. The employee will also be required, as a condition of employment, to enroll in the DMV Pull Notice program to allow the Hospital to receive notice of any changes in their driving record. The Employee must maintain at least state required limits of liability insurance/evidence of financial responsibility on own vehicles (such limits may not be adequate and employee should consider higher limits for their own protection).

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1 Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Security and Life Safety Department.
2 * Maintains and repairs fire doors and associated equipment.
3 * Schedules and documents all Fire Drills for the facility
4 * Performs scheduled Hazard Surveillance rounds of the facility to ensure patient and staff safety
5 * Performs monthly Fire Extinguisher inspections and schedules with an outside vendor for the annual inspection
6 * Completes and documents monthly Elevator inspections at the facility
7 * Maintains routine records of all inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system.
8  Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.
9 * Ability to do work on his/her own with only normal supervision.
10 * A working knowledge of fire alarms, signal systems and safety precautions.
11 Knowledge and observance of safety precautions.
