Story Production Fellowship

Insider is hiring a Story Production Fellow to join our Commerce to help run business and editorial operations for the Service Journalism division.

The Role & Team:

The Insider Fellowship Program is for early career individuals who want to spend six months learning from a team full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months, they are prepared for the next phase of their careers. This role requires you to work for 40 hours a week and can be fully remote.

As a Story Production Fellow you will work alongside reporters, editors, partnership managers, analytics, and product & tech employees to build, optimize, and monetize stories for the Service Journalism team.

Our team’s core responsibilities include building, updating, and maintaining stories for the Service Journalism team in the CMS, auditing pages to ensure our links remain relevant and intact, and working alongside business development to optimize our pages based on partnership preferences. (NOTE: This is not a writing or video production position)

This role reports directly to the Senior Manager or Senior Producer and sits on the Story Production team. This role will be remote, with the option of going into the New York office. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Building and updating stories in the CMS
• Auditing stories to ensure they remain compliant with evolving standards
• Managing on-page affiliate partnerships
• Creating on-page graphics via Photoshop templates  

The ideal candidate has:

• Demonstrable knowledge of the eCommerce industry 
• Previous experience with working in a CMS environment
• Basic SEO knowledge
• Basic Photoshop skills

Additionally, all of our editorial fellows should have:

• A passion for digital storytelling and voracious reading habits
• Familiarity with digital and social media
• The ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
• Proofreading and copyediting skills
• A love of Insider and our mission to serve readers with the information and inspiration they need in a way that’s accurate, fair, fast, and fun 

Salary & Benefits:

• Fellows are paid $20 per hour (overtime when needed and approved)
• PTO and paid holidays
• Eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits on 91st day of employment

Salary for the role is commensurate with experience and depends on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. US pay range $20—$20 USD
