JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Bletz Lab is seeking undergraduate student(s) to assist with experimental research on conditions affecting immune development and disease resistance in amphibians. The research assistant will work with graduate students in the lab to assist with carrying out experiments with tadpoles and frogs as well as sample processing in the lab. Experimental work will include animal care, and experimental sampling. Lab work will include culturing of microbes and pathogens as well as molecular methods include DNA extraction, PCR and next generation sequencing. The opening is for the spring 2025 semester with continuation into the summer highly likely based on good performance. Job duties may include:

-          Set up experiments for frogs

-          Sampling of amphibians

-          Care & maintenance of terrariums

-          DNA extraction

-          PCR

-          Sequencing
