Job Summary
The Opportunity: Patient Care Assistant | Yawkey 8 – HEMOC Infusion UnitYawkey 8 Infusion Unit is a sixty bed/chair infusion unit in the Division of Hematology-Oncology. There are eighteen beds and forty-two chairs.
The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 8 PM; Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 6:30 PM
Qualifications
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) will assist the RNs in Yawkey 8 with a variety of functions including vitals, phlebotomy and EKGs, transport patients, check rooms and equipment, assist patients with dressing and feeding and some clerical functions. Our Patient Care Assistant team prides themselves in responding to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Skills
Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers.
Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
Ability to lift and transport patients, using the appropriate physical technique, in a safe manner for the patient and self.
· Preferred: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.
· Required: Licensed, certified or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR Candidate enrolled in a Nursing program, Pre-Med or PA undergraduate program with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed at time of hire.
