About the role

Summary

The Children's Nutritional Research Center is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform routine repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment at the CNRC facility. The Maintenance Mechanic assists with work order requests requiring a level 2 mechanic and provides the initial problem evaluation and troubleshooting for level 2 mechanical work orders such as installation of air handler motors and maintenance, pump rebuilds, troubleshooting faulty fluid processing equipment, trouble shooting and maintaining RO water systems.

 

This position is seeking someone with a strong mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of building codes, good communication skills and the ability to work well with others Some lifting (as much as 125 lbs.), climbing and respirator use is required and also the use of ANSI class 75 safety shoes is required.

 

Please note this is primarily a night shift position and offers a shift differential of $1.20 for evenings/weekend days and $2.10 for graveyard shifts.

Work hours: Wednesday and Thursday 11:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m., Friday 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. and Saturday 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. Weekday shifts have some flexibility.  Must be available to work other shifts as necessary.

Job Duties

Operates and maintains:

  • Chilled water and steam, excluding generation.
  • Potable water distribution and associated equipment.
  • De-ionized water generation.
  • Emergency power
  • Monitors building automated system (BAS).
  • All other facility support systems.
  • Responds to and resolve BAS alarms.
  • Troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance of BAS and Control Equipment.
  • Assists with preventative maintenance and repair programs.
  • Provides assistance with life safety or security situations as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED and completion of Trade School or Associate’s Degree program. 
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional specialized training. Some advanced mechanic training required.
  • One year of maintenance mechanic experience preferable in a medical, research or higher education facility preferred.
