Job Title: Full-time Faculty in Criminal Justice

Summary of Position: This full-time Criminal Justice faculty position in the School of Integrated Health (SIH) in the College of Adult and Professional Studies (CAPS) will educate adult learners through teaching in an online modality. The faculty member will serve as an integral part of a team approach to provide the academic experience for the criminal justice program, as well as teach, administrate, and develop curriculum as necessary. Full-time faculty members are also expected to provide university-related service and a commitment to scholarship through active involvement in research. Successful candidates must be committed to a Christ-centered approach to education and comfortable with the Wesleyan theological perspective.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as full-time faculty for the Division of Behavioral and Health Sciences
- Teach in the Criminal Justice program
- Assist with student issues
- Develop curriculum for assurance of highest quality
- Mentor and evaluate adjunct faculty
- Evaluate student work through timely and meaningful feedback
- Participate in scholarly activities related to his/her scope of discipline
- Serve on School, College, and University-related committees as requested
- Travel to the main campus in Marion, IN, for faculty meetings and commencement ceremonies
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Chair of Behavioral and Health Sciences
Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.
Education
- Doctorate in Criminal Justice and/or Criminology or closely related field is preferred
- ABD candidates will be considered
- The candidate must hold a master’s degree from an accredited institution
Experience
- Two (2) years of post-master’s degree practice experience
Required Skills
- Demonstrated online teaching proficiency
- Demonstrated ability for research and scholarly activities
- Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse populations
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Teaching experience in an online environment
- Demonstrate strong technology skills for providing academic instruction
- Experience teaching a broad age-range of adults successfully
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills for relating effectively with other faculty, administrators, and staff
- Have the ability to conceptualize and write curriculum
- Possess strong organizational leadership skills
- Demonstrated, active affiliation with State and/or National organizations in Criminal Justice
- Demonstration of an active, growing Christian faith
